Following a successful heart transplant, Carroll Shelby founded the Carroll Shelby Children’s Foundation in October of 1991. The foundation’s mission was to provide assistance for acute coronary and kidney care for young people who share many of the same afflictions. In 2009, the foundation expanded its reach and became the Carroll Shelby Foundation (CSF) helping kids from their first heartbeat through their education years.
Over 109,000 men, women and children are currently on the national transplant waiting list. 17 people die each day waiting for an organ transplant. That can change with the help of the Carroll Shelby Foundation.
To date the Carroll Shelby Foundation has helped numerous children undergo major coronary surgeries and help charities worldwide raise money for their own fundraising campaigns and provided money to launch healthcare programs and facilities. The Foundation also provides grants to organizations conducting research in the fields or coronary and organ transplant management
Not only does CSF provide medical help, but it also provides scholarship money to kids dedicated to enhancing their lives through opportunities in the automotive industry.
