A car's PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) system relieves crankcase pressure by venting it - back in the old days, a simple breather tube atop the valve covers let those vapors out into the ozone layer. In the modern era, these gases (which contain vaporized oil molecules) are fed back into the engine at the intake, to be burned off. Unfortunately, lots of those oil molecules return to liquid state in the intake manifold, resulting in an engine that's essentially breathing oil, and creating oil deposits in the manifold, etc. An oil separator can liquify the oil before it reaches the intake, and catches it in a removeable receptacle that can be periodically emptied in normal maintenance. Extensive computer-modeled flow testing, dyno testing, and over 1500 miles of real-world road-testing were used to ensure the Shelby Oil Separator is a consistent performer - catching the maximum amount of oil without impeding flow. All fittings are metal for secure mounting and durability. No plastic threads to strip or break!
Our new oil separator was designed to be functional, durable, and attractive, while being versatile enough to adapt to many applications. It is available in Clear (Silver) or Black anodized finish, with either the "CS" or "GT500" logo laser-etched on top, and in either a 180 degree (inline) or 90 degree (turn the corner) version. These configurations make it easy to select the proper layout on driver's-side OR passenger-side applications for many different cars (GT500 passenger side uses the 180 degree version).
We've illustrated several pictures of the items and accessory install kit together, keep in mind each separator is priced with only the 2 black metal fittings and two hose clamps included. These separators can be purchased that way and spliced into existing PCV lines, or used with either the "GT500 Passenger Side OEM" hose kit we offer (so you don't have to cut your factory hose), or our new optional Universal Mounting Kit, which includes two 12" lengths of hose, hose clamps, and a mounting bracket (seen installed in a few of the Item pictures) that can be attached to a horizontal or vertical surface. The Universal Kit ensures compatibility with a wide variety of cars and configurations. Other "OEM hose kits" will be offered ASAP.
